Job Summary
A growing defense electronics manufacturer is seeking a Senior RF/Microwave Power Amplifier Engineer to lead the development of new and existing high-power microwave amplifier products.
This role requires deep expertise in RF power amplifier design, including MMICs, GaN, and LDMOS technologies. The engineer will contribute to technical strategy, product innovation, and support continued growth in military radar, electronic warfare, and communications markets.
The ideal candidate has successfully designed, built, and tested high-power amplifier modules (up to 1kW at the module level) from initial concept through repeatable volume production for military applications across S-Band, C-Band, X-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band, and L-Band systems.
Candidates should have experience within a defense prime or Tier 1/Tier 2 contractor environment and be comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced organization while maintaining the engineering rigor of a larger defense manufacturer.
This position reports to senior engineering leadership and collaborates closely with military program leadership to support new business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design new RF/microwave power amplifiers and enhance existing products
Perform simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM development, and prototype builds
Lead and participate in design reviews
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on new and existing products
Develop new technical concepts, products, and processes
Prepare full documentation packages to support prototype builds and serial production
Generate drawings and technical documentation required for manufacturing
Design products within budget and quoted cost targets
Support technical aspects of new business proposals and quotations
Test and tune amplifiers to meet power, gain, efficiency, and performance requirements
Design for manufacturability and repeatable production
Define process controls and documentation for low-rate initial production (LRIP) and volume manufacturing
Qualifications
Bachelor"s or Master"s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 7+ years of RF/microwave industry experience
Proven experience designing, assembling, and testing high-power RF amplifiers
Strong knowledge of GaAs, GaN, LDMOS, and MMIC technologies
Experience with Class AB power amplifier design
Background in radar, electronic warfare, communications, or high-frequency/jamming applications
Strong familiarity with U.S. military specifications and standards
Experience with microwave simulation tools (e.g., ADS or similar)
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., PADS or similar); 3D CAD experience is a plus
Understanding of signal processing, including cavity and digital filter applications
Experience designing products from prototype through production
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
