About the Role
We're looking for a Retail Manager to lead the day-to-day operations at our Niagara Falls retail location. This role is all about keeping the store running smoothly: managing the team, owning the schedule, delivering a great customer experience, and keeping labor costs in line with sales targets. You'll report to the Retail Regional Manager and focus on floor-level execution while higher-level functions like inventory management, invoicing, and marketing are handled at the regional level.
What You'll Do
Daily Operations
- Open and close the store; ensure the location is clean, compliant, and ready for business each day
- Manage all aspects of day-to-day retail operations, including cash handling, POS management, and end-of-day reconciliation
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and local cannabis regulations, including customer ID verification and transaction limits
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for any operational issues that arise during business hours
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming store environment for both staff and customers
Team Management & Scheduling
- Build and manage the weekly staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage during all operating hours while maintaining a labor-to-sales ratio of 12% or under
- Lead, coach, and hold team members accountable to performance expectations and company standards
- Conduct regular one-on-ones and provide ongoing feedback to direct reports
- Handle employee relations matters on the floor, escalating to the Retail Regional Manager or HR as appropriate
- Support onboarding and training of new hires to get them up to speed quickly
Customer Experience
- Set the tone for a positive, knowledgeable, and welcoming customer experience
- Address and resolve customer concerns or complaints in real time
- Ensure the team is trained on current product offerings and can speak to them confidently
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular updates to the Retail Regional Manager on store performance, team dynamics, and any issues requiring attention
- Track and report on daily sales and labor metrics
- Flag trends or concerns early so the regional team can step in with support
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of retail management experience, preferably in cannabis or a similarly regulated industry
- Proven ability to build and manage schedules that balance team needs with business targets
- Strong understanding of labor cost management and comfort working toward a specific labor-to-sales goal
- Solid people skills. You can coach, hold people accountable, and still keep morale high
- Familiarity with cannabis compliance requirements in New York State (or ability to learn quickly)
- Experience with POS systems and basic cash management
- Reliable, on-time, and able to lead by example on professionalism and work ethic
- Comfortable operating independently while keeping the Regional Manager in the loop
Nice to Have
- Experience with cannabis-specific POS or workforce management tools (e.g., Treez, Kaya Push)
- Knowledge of New York cannabis retail regulations (OCM requirements)
- Prior experience in a multi-location retail environment
