General Job Description:

IES Residential is seeking an experienced Residential Electrical Leadman / Service Technician to lead a crew installing electrical systems in new single-family homes. This role requires a motivated leader who sets the pace, maintains high quality standards, and models safety, efficiency, and professionalism.

 

The Leadman combines leadership and technical expertise to ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with IES Residential standards, project specifications, and applicable electrical codes.

 

Responsibilities

Crew Leadership

  • Lead and motivate a 3-man crew of electricians and apprentices

  • Maintain productivity, safety, and high-quality workmanship

Electrical Installation

  • Perform and oversee rough-ins and trims for track and custom homes

  • Ensure work meets NEC and IES standards

Service Installation

  • Build 200 amp services in approximately 30 minutes

  • Build 320 amp services in approximately 1.5 hours

Training & Mentorship

  • Train and mentor apprentices, electricians, and technicians in efficient installation practices to support crew development

  • Promote the IES way of quality electrical work

Safety

  • Enforce PPE requirements

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards

Communication

  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and builders

  • Communicate material needs and provide completion updates

Performance

  • Maintain high productivity and quality standards

  • Lead by example and hold crew members accountable

Minimum Education: None Minimum Years of Experience: 4-6 Specific Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years residential electrical experience

  • Texas Wireman or Journeyman Electrician License preferred

  • Experience leading a crew in residential new construction

  • Strong understanding of NEC, blueprint reading, and residential wiring

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate with team members and builders

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

  • Must pass background check and drug screening

Work Environment

  • Work performed at residential construction job sites

  • Indoor and outdoor work in varying Texas weather conditions

  • Exposure to construction equipment, tools, noise, and dust

  • Fast-paced environment working with builders and construction schedules

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders

  • Ability to work overhead and in confined spaces

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools

  • Comfortable working on ladders and elevated areas
