Minimum Qualifications: RN Degree required; bachelor’s preferred. Three to five years of related behavioral health experience is required. Three years of supervisory experience in behavioral health care is required. Valid NYS Drivers’ License.
Job Summary: The Residential Charge Nurse is a Registered Nurse with demonstrated leadership skills and clinical excellence in service delivery in the behavioral health field. The Residential Charge Nurse oversees FLACRA’s nursing operations and staff in alignment with FLACRA’s mission, vision, values, and brand pledge. The Residential Charge Nurse demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
The following duties will apply:
Duties
1. Provide leadership and oversight to RNs, LPNs, clinical and support staff during assigned shifts.
2. Assign duties and ensure adequate staffing coverage for residential programs.
3. Serve as a clinical and medical resource for nursing and clinical staff.
4. Monitor and evaluate staff performance and provide coaching as needed.
5. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, case managers, and support staff.
6. Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to individualized treatment plans.
7. Communicate patient status updates to providers and appropriate stakeholders.
8. Facilitate continuity of care during admissions, transfers, and discharges.
9. Monitor medication storage, counts, and controlled substance documentation.
10. Participate in audits, incident reporting, and quality improvement initiatives.
11. Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
12. Provide patient education on medications, withdrawal management, and health promotion.
13. Support patients experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms with trauma-informed, patient-centered care.
14. Assist in staff training related to detox protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices in addiction medicine.
15. Assess staff training needs and assist in developing those needs.
16. Provides direct documented supervision to all nursing and clinical staff regularly through audits and observations.
17. Provide nursing leadership, guidance, coaching, and support to the program leadership, nursing staff, and clinical staff.
18. Ensure that each nurse on staff maintains appropriate certifications and abides by the standards for care established by our organization and state and federal laws.
19. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
20. Giving direct feedback and support for nursing and clinical personnel issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment.
21. Monitor patient care for quality.
22. Ensures daily reconciliation of methadone.
23. Ensures timely medication ordering and medication destruction as needed.
24. Coordinates with providers, nursing and clinical staff to ensure quality and continuity of care.
25. Facilitate patient education, both individually and in groups.
26. Participate in general, staff, in-service, and supervisory meetings held by the Agency.
27. Attend conferences and training.
28. Provide oversight and guidance with outsourced pharmacy services.
29. Incident reporting route cause analysis, education, and training as appropriate, collaboratively with Quality Assurance and program leadership.
30. Assists Quality Assurance and program leadership with revisions and review of established policies and procedures, and the introduction of new policies and procedures as appropriate.
31. Perform other duties and functions as directed.

- Coordinating and supervising the nursing care provided to patients on assigned nursing unit
- Assist nurse manager in areas
- Work within skilled nursing/long-term care communities providing direct patient care
- Direct and supervise the nurse assistants rendering care
- Provide individualized goal directed nursing care to patients in the nursing unit, utilizing the nursing process and standards of nursing care
- Helping become a better nurse
- Administer medication set up by another nurse
