Location: Portland, OregonJob Type: ContractCompensation Range: $35 - 40 per hourA global sports and performance-focused organization is seeking a Research & Development Consultant - Athlete Performance to support innovation initiatives at the intersection of sports science, athlete testing, and product research. This role sits within a cross-functional innovation and R&D environment and helps drive how athlete performance data is collected, analyzed, and translated into actionable product insight.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in sports science, biomechanics, human performance, or applied research who enjoys working hands-on with performance data, research programs, and external research partnerships.Responsibilities:Manage and support programs that generate sports science and athlete performance insights.Coordinate collection, analysis, and maintenance of athlete and performance data.Support research initiatives focused on athlete-product interaction (footwear and apparel performance).Help manage external partnerships with universities, labs, and industry research groups.Evaluate the external research landscape and recommend partnership opportunities.Execute athlete performance data and innovation initiatives ready for R&D implementation.Develop metrics and methods that improve R&D efficiency and research quality.Prepare concept summaries, technical reports, and insight presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.Provide regular updates to innovation leadership on research progress and partnership status.Collaborate cross-functionally with innovation, data & analytics, product testing, and quality teams.Qualifications:Degree in sports science, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, data science, or related field.5+ years of relevant experience (advanced degrees may offset years of experience).Experience with athlete performance testing, human performance data, or applied sports research.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to translate complex scientific findings into practical insights.Experience supporting applied research or R&D programs.Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Collaborative and relationship-driven working style.Self-directed, organized, and execution-oriented.JOBID: 022026-124393#PLEqual Opportunity Employer: Race, Color, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, National Origin, Age, Genetic Information, Disability, Protected Veteran Status, or any other legally protected group status.At Cella, a randstad digital company, we welcome people of all abilities and want to ensure that our hiring and interview process meets the needs of all applicants.
