Key Responsibilities:
- Exemplary Practice: Perform comprehensive nursing care for oncology patients, including those receiving chemotherapy, managing treatment side effects, and recovering from surgery.
- Provide relationship-based, culturally competent care with a focus on patient dignity and quality of life.
- Clinical Care: Administer chemotherapy and other IV medications (upon completion of required competencies), manage central lines and ports, monitor for complications, perform wound care, and provide extensive patient and family education on disease and symptom management.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Coordinate care with oncologists, social workers, case managers, and other specialists.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and maintain clear communication to ensure holistic patient support.
- Symptom Management & Support: Expertly assess and manage pain, nausea, fatigue, and other cancer or treatment-related symptoms.
- Provide emotional support and resources to patients and families.
- Professional Development: Complete all required competencies, including oncology-specific training. Serve as a mentor to other staff as appropriate.
- Quality & Safety: Adhere to strict safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs.
- Promote evidence-based oncology nursing practice and participate in unit performance improvement.
- Key Skills;Current RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
- Current BLS certification (required upon hire)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Compassion and interest in oncology nursing
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN License in the State of Georgia or a Multi-State Compact License.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification is a significant plus.
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program with requisite clinical hours is required.
- Direct patient care experience is preferred.
- Experience in an Oncology, Medical/Surgical, or Med/Surg Oncology setting is highly desirable.
- New graduates with a passion for oncology are encouraged to apply.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and empathetic skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate care during difficult and sensitive situations.
- Commitment to patient advocacy and safety.
