Registered Nurse - ED Float (3 sites)

  • Department: Clinical Resource Department
  • Hours: 24.00 per week
  • Shift: Shift 3
  • Work Schedule: 12 hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Every Third Weekend

Our Emergency Departments consist of a multidisciplinary team of providers, nurses, ED Tech’s and Secretaries that work together to provide our patients with exceptional care in a great team environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Under limited supervision:

Operational Duties

  • Required to float to all 3 Emergency Departments

  • May be reassigned to another site once during shift

  • Required to take a full assignment

  • Requires flexibility due to shift determination within 1 hour of shift start time

Roles and responsibilities

  • Identifies accurate nursing diagnosis/patient problems or needs from assessment data and individualizes plan of care to address unique patient needs 

  • Prioritizes plan of care based on needs

  • Implements evidence based patient care in a safe and effective manner

  • Anticipates and monitors needs, revises the plan of care based on ongoing evaluation of outcomes and frequent reassessment of patient needs.

  • Communicates changes in plan of care and patient status to appropriate members of the health team

  • Documents nursing process accurately, concisely and in a timely manner

  • Demonstrates proficiency with the electronic medical record and knowledge of legal implications 

  • Collaborates with the patient, family, and the interprofessional team to establish outcomes of care

  • Supervises, coordinates and delegates care appropriately based on patient/family assessment and the knowledge, skills and abilities of health care team members to whom care delegation is directed

  • Preserve integrity and safety of patient care through maintaining competence and continuing personal and professional growth

  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to promote the application of new knowledge and skill attainment

  • Participates in orienting/precepting/mentoring members of the health team

  • Participates in team/department based activities to improve outcomes such as committee work, research, case studies and/or unit based educational initiatives 

  • Identifies ethical concerns related to patient care or the practice environment and refers concerns in a timely manner to appropriate individuals, utilizing the chain of command when necessary

  • Participates in identifying, analyzing and resolving issues related to quality, safety or risk 

  • Other job related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Years of Experience : 

  • ED RN with at least two years ED experience  

Minimum Education: 

  • Graduate of accredited Nursing school

Certification/Credentials :

  • Current and unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or the ability to obtain.

  • Current ACLS & BLS

Preferred Education and Experience:  

  • Triage experience or complete training during orientation 

Preferred Education: 

  • BSN or ADN/ASN or actively enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of hire

  • Professional certification in clinical specialty or obtain within 1 year of hire

Preferred Certification/Credentials:

  • TNCC or complete within 18 months of hire 

  • ENPC or complete within 18 months of hire
