Regional Nurse Manager

Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager oversees clinic operations in the North Region to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role serves as a liaison between the Director of Nursing and regional nursing staff, while also providing skilled nursing services in accordance with the New Mexico State Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies.
What You Will Do:
- Supervise and support regional nursing staff, including recruiting candidates, identifying training needs, and assisting with performance evaluations.
- Assign and delegate patient care tasks, ensure appropriate staffing levels, and provide direct patient care as needed.
- Audit nursing documentation, including histories, progress notes, and vital signs, to ensure compliance with Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to document patient information, track lab results, diagnostic imaging, and referrals.
- Manage medication inventory and security, including dispensing pharmaceuticals, removing expired medications, and maintaining emergency carts.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Director of Nursing regarding clinic operations, purchase orders, and may assume leadership duties in their absence.
- Collaborate with providers and Lead Medical Assistants to coordinate patient care and optimize clinical workflows.
- Demonstrate leadership and advanced nursing knowledge in an outpatient setting, including physical assessments, telephone triage, and operational management.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a patient-centered approach while supporting teamwork and adapting to organizational changes.
- Travel to any El Centro clinic as required, maintaining a valid driver's license and state-compliant auto insurance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of supervisory experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a non-profit or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or related field.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to balance, bend, lift, carry, and pull up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically longer than four hours.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, or as needed.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use hands and fingers for feeling, grasping, and operating office equipment.
- Adequate hearing ability for communication and monitoring office environments.
- Good vision for reading documents, operating office equipment, and observing surroundings.
- Capability to stoop, crouch, crawl, or kneel as necessary for office tasks.
- Ability to talk clearly and effectively for communication.
- Ability to walk and move around the office environment.
- This position involves possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials.
