The Radiology Services Assistant (RSA) performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient related functions. The RSA is responsible for assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services such as: patient check-in, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, importing and exporting images electronically and via CD, and patient transporting. The RSA is trained to use a wide variety of equipment, computers, and software. The RSA must be able to resolve conflict and endure the pressures associated with a constantly changing work environment. The RSA assists with exams on adults, geriatric patients, adolescents, and pediatric age groups and performs patient assessment within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities:- Greets the patients as they arrive at imaging reception desk and gets them checked in, notifying the appropriate modality of their presence. Answers incoming calls, taking adequate messages.
- Faxes or mails reports as requested.
- Burns CD or pushes images electronically as requested. Release of information is then documented in Quick disclosure.
- Digitizes mammography films as needed and loads outside images into the PACS system.
- Notifies technologists of STAT procedures and additions or cancellations to the schedule.
- Do weekly QC check for mammography.
- Assists Imaging Technologists with obtaining checklist and screening forms.
- Assists Imaging Technologists with patient throughput.
- Must be able to read and write English at the equivalent of a high school graduate
- Six months previous medical-related field
- Knowledge of medical terminology
