SUMMARY:
- Manage Research & Development operations in accordance with company standards and the quality management system requirements. Design, prototype, prove design, and document design to meet customer requirements. Supervise building and testing of short run orders. Supervise all High Reliability and Flight designs. Support sales with design, pricing, delivery, and information during the quoting process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop new filter, oscillator and other technologies.
- Develop new filter and oscillator design processes and software.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of an engineer.
- Establish practices and procedures to achieve cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Promote continuous improvement.
- Support sales with design, pricing, delivery, and information during the quoting process.
- Oversee the development and design of tooling, processes, computer, and test equipment. Support production and test.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:
- Education required is a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, or other applicable technical degree, some advanced education desired. Filter tuning and design experience (hands on). Broader experience can be obtained with on-the-job training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- The individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents, the ability to write routine technical reports and correspondence, and the ability to communicate effectively to both coworkers, management,
- and external customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- The individual must have mathematical skills commensurate with the degree. Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute powers in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The individual must also have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs. The individual must also have an understanding of the application of Ohm’s Law. These requirements may be fulfilled by the Advanced Degree requirement from the education and experience section.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving variables in a standardized and nonstandard situation.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- The ability to learn programs in PC DOS and Windows format. The ability to understand and master ERP systems. The individual must have the ability to learn programs in other formats, such as network analyzers. The ability to create computer programs for design and testing of communication components.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Fast paced office, laboratory and electronics manufacturing. Regular deadlines, must have the ability to communicate and work with others of varying skill levels and educational backgrounds.
