Position summary
The Quality Technician – Quality Lab performs diversified duties within the Quality Lab to inspect, test, and evaluate electronic, RF, and interconnect products to blueprint and customer requirements. This role supports Quality and Engineering through hands-on testing, calibration, First Article Inspections (FAIRs), and non-standard inspections in a regulated aerospace environment.
The Quality Technician – Quality Lab performs diversified duties within the Quality Lab to inspect, test, and evaluate electronic, RF, and interconnect products to blueprint and customer requirements. This role supports Quality and Engineering through hands-on testing, calibration, First Article Inspections (FAIRs), and non-standard inspections in a regulated aerospace environment.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Plan, set up, and operate test equipment and products in proper sequence, including wiring, fitting, aligning, and assembly of electrical and RF components
• Perform First Article Inspections (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements
• Interface cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to coordinate inspections and testing activities
• Use a variety of test and inspection equipment, including network analyzers, hi-pot testers, megohmmeters, linear gauges, and heat-treating equipment
• Perform critical laboratory testing using standard and non-standard inspection methods
• Record and analyze test results; recommend potential product or process improvements
• Use ERP software (SAP) to execute transfer transactions required to move approved parts into stock
• Perform scheduled calibration of mechanical and electrical gauges and instrumentation
• Conduct non-standard inspections for conformance to customer criteria
• Support customer source inspections and First Article approvals using customer portals
• Participate in and promote continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Obtain and maintain internal and customer-required certifications

Education and experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience with Radio Frequency (RF) and interconnect products
• Prior experience with fiber optic cabling
• Prior experience working on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
• Prior experience creating FAIRs using AS9102 and Net-Inspect across multiple product types

• Ability to analyze product requirements based on purchase orders and blueprints

• Comfortable working in both English and metric measurement systems (inches and millimeters)
• Experience working in an AS9100 environment
• IPC experience strongly preferred:
– IPC-620
– IPC-610
– J-STD
• Strong understanding of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements and customer-specific quality standards
• Ability to analyze product requirements based on purchase orders and blueprints
• Ability to optimize inspection plans based on product type and customer requirements
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work on small parts in a zero-defect environment
