Job Summary: 
A manufacturing facility in the Chicago area is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support food safety and quality operations on 3rd shift. This is a non-union, on-site role based at a production plant and is critical to ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.


Job Duties:
  • Conduct routine and non-routine quality testing on in-process materials, finished products, ingredients, and manufacturing supplies
  • Perform special testing and quality-related projects as needed
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and complete minor repairs on laboratory equipment while adhering to Good Laboratory Practices
  • Analyze test results, verify accuracy, and communicate findings to production and supervisory teams
  • Identify out-of-spec conditions, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with production on issue resolution
  • Accurately enter and maintain test data, deviation reports, and monthly summaries in computerized systems
  • Monitor laboratory inventory, initiate orders, and coordinate timely replacement or repair of supplies and equipment
  • Support food safety, GMP, and plant quality programs, including audits and operator quality performance reviews
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment
  • Follow all safety, security, and food safety protocols
  • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, effective problem-solving, and strong communication skills
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–5 years of experience in a food or manufacturing laboratory environment
  • Formal training in laboratory procedures or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Strong working knowledge of laboratory equipment and production processes
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office; experience with SAP or similar systems preferred
  • SQF and/or PCQI certifications preferred
  • Ability to work rotating shifts as required
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Comfortable working around moving mechanical equipment
