Role Overview and Responsibilities:This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Introduction
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day quality operations on the production floor to ensure products meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role provides direct supervision to Quality Inspector Lead and Technicians, supports compliance with the Quality Management Systems (QMS), and ensures timely execution of inspections, corrective actions, and containment activities. The Quality Supervisor partners closely with Operations to promote shared ownership of quality and to resolve quality issues in real time.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities of Quality Inspectors and Technicians across assigned shifts or value streams.
- Ensure inspections, audits, and quality checks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Support containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities for internal and external quality issues.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for production quality concerns and coordinate resolution with Operations, Engineering, and Quality Management.
- Enforce compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, work instructions, and inspection plans.
- Review inspection results, nonconformances, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring preparedness, documentation availability, and corrective action follow-up.
- Assist with training, onboarding, and development of Quality team members.
- Promote a culture of shared quality ownership between Manufacturing and Quality.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, yield improvement, and process stability.
- Escalate systemic or high-risk quality issues to the Quality Manager as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Core Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Handson understanding of inspection methods, measurement systems, and quality tools.
- Effective people supervision and coaching skills.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability.
- Clear, professional communication across shifts and functions.
- Ability to balance floor-level execution with documentation and compliance needs.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations (ADA).
Desireable Skills and Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or a technical discipline; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a Quality role within Manufacturing, preferably aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industries.
- Prior lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, nonconformance management, RCCA/CAPA, and inspection processes.
- Experience supporting audits and customer interactions.
- Proficiency with QMS systems and ERP/MRP platforms
