Position Summary
Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Quality Assurance Manager to lead the food safety and quality functions for a major production facility. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products meet or exceed customer, regulatory (USDA/FDA), and company standards.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of the QA department, including laboratory and floor technicians, ensuring alignment with corporate food safety goals.
Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for USDA/FDA inspectors; manage all regulatory inquiries, non-conformance reports (NRs), and documentation.
Compliance & Audit Management: Lead the facility through GFSI/SQF audits, customer inspections, and internal audits to maintain top-tier certification status.
Continuous Improvement: Utilize root cause analysis (RCA) and CAPA processes to investigate deviations, customer complaints, and quality losses.
Program Development: Maintain and update the Food Safety Plan (HACCP), HARPC, and all prerequisite programs (SSOPs, GMPs).
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance to ensure equipment and processes meet sanitary design and quality benchmarks.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related technical field is required.
Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of Quality Assurance experience within the food manufacturing industry. Experience in poultry or protein processing is highly preferred.
Management: At least 3–5 years in a direct leadership or managerial role, with a proven track record of developing and mentoring staff.
Process Oversight: Deep understanding of USDA/FDA regulations, SQF/GFSI standards, and HACCP principles. PCQI certification is a significant plus.
Additional Requirements: * Ability to work in various plant environments (wet, cold, or noisy conditions).
Must be willing to travel occasionally for corporate meetings or vendor audits.
High sense of urgency and excellent problem-solving capabilities.
