Quality Engineer II

Pay Rate: $50.48 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Onsite: Columbus OH 47201

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related technical field)

  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, preferably in the automotive industry

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, AIAG Core Tools, and metrology software

  • Experience with IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP quality standards

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to stakeholders

Role Summary

The Quality Engineer leads continuous improvement initiatives to ensure defect-free manufacturing processes. This role focuses on maintaining high-quality standards, meeting customer requirements, and driving operational improvements through technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP requirements

  • Support quality systems and ensure adherence to established standards

Dimensional Engineering

  • Perform GD&T analysis and part validation

  • Use PolyWorks for 3D measurement and dimensional verification

Problem Solving

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and external quality issues

  • Utilize structured problem-solving methods including 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa

Technical Support

  • Provide support in metrology, SPC, and MSA (Gage R&R) studies

  • Assist manufacturing teams in resolving quality-related challenges

Continuous Improvement

  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap, rework, and process variation

  • Support initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency and quality performance

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Work closely with manufacturing, tooling teams, and customers to manage changes and resolve nonconformities

  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members on quality tools and best practices

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CMM programming or 3D scanning

  • Knowledge of 6S, welding processes, or Design of Experiments (DOE)

  • Experience with Minitab or advanced Excel for statistical analysis
