Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Quality Engineer located in Greenville, SC. The Quality Engineer supports the company's Quality Management System by leading in process and final inspection activities and by driving process improvement through engineering change orders. Inspections will mostly be conducted via a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) but the use of other measuring tools will be a regular occurrence. In addition to leading inspection activities and driving process improvement, additional time will be spent assisting the quality and engineering team in order to satisfy program needs and to help ensure compliance to the AS9100 standard. This role acts as a key liaison between Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Responsibilities
Inspection & Technical Support
- Support in-process and final inspections through technical guidance, specification review, and measurement verification.
- Assist in the development of inspection criteria, check fixtures, and measurement methods.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead the Engineering Change Process for all production documents
- Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving product quality.
- Lead small-scale improvement projects and support large cross-functional projects.
Quality Engineering & Process Assurance
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS).
- Conduct and document root-cause investigations and help manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform data analysis on nonconformances, scrap, rework, and inspection trends; recommend process improvements.
- Support MRB activities, providing technical evaluation of discrepant material and recommended dispositions.
- Interface with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure product specifications, drawings, and work order requirements are properly flowed down.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
- 1–5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspections
- Knowledge and application of GD&T principles
- Experience using Polyworks or other 3D metrology software
- Experience using CAD software. Solidworks highly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with manufacturing SOPs and applicable process improvement
- Knowledge of Engineering Change Orders and Document Control
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar aerospace/defense quality systems.
- Proficient with measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
