QC Technician (Fabrication)

The QC Technician (FAB) is responsible for inspecting and verifying fabrication work to ensure compliance with company standards, client specifications, and industry codes. This role supports the quality assurance process for piping systems and equipment used in natural gas compression and processing.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated piping, structural components, and assemblies
  • Verify materials using Material Test Reports (MTRs) and ensure traceability
  • Inspect fit-up, welding, and completed welds in accordance with WPS and applicable codes (e.g., ASME)
  • Review and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings
  • Check dimensions, alignments, and tolerances using measuring tools (tape, calipers, squares, levels)
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate QC records and reports
  • Identify non-conformances and assist in corrective actions
  • Coordinate with welders, pipe fitters, and supervisors to ensure quality standards are met
  • Support pressure testing and final equipment inspections
  • Maintain compliance with safety and quality procedures

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience in fabrication, welding, or pipe fitting (oil & gas preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes and inspection criteria
  • Familiarity with ASME codes, WPS, PQRs, and ITPs
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with inspection tools and documentation processes
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • CWI certification (preferred but not always required)


Work Environment:

  • Industrial fabrication shop with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment
  • Requires PPE including hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots
  • May involve overtime and weekend work depending on production schedules
