Description
We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to support our operations in the Washougal, Washington area on a long-term contract basis. This position plays a key role in managing purchasing activities, collaborating closely with suppliers, and ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with internal standards. The ideal candidate brings strong vendor management experience, analytical insight, and a detail-oriented approach to procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to support reliable delivery timelines and competitive pricing.
+ Negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality standards to support optimal sourcing decisions.
+ Review freight and logistics costs, including the need for expedited shipments, to determine the most effective purchasing solutions.
+ Prepare and issue purchase orders using request-for-quote (RFQ) data within the ERP system.
+ Track and evaluate supplier performance and material quality, sharing insights with leadership as part of ongoing supplier reviews.
+ Partner with purchasing leadership to meet departmental benchmarks, including purchase order accuracy and delivery performance.
+ Analyze purchasing activity and market conditions to uncover opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
+ Oversee shipping and receiving activities, including documentation, inventory tracking, and certification handling.
+ Work closely with accounting to match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with vendors as needed.
+ Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all company policies and regulatory requirements while working with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Requirements - Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build lasting vendor relationships.
- Proficiency in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for purchase order management.
- Knowledge of freight and logistics cost analysis to optimize sourcing decisions.
- Familiarity with supplier performance metrics and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to analyze purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
