Purchasing Agent and Storeroom Supervisor
Location: Billings, MT
Salary: $75,000–$100,000 + Benefits + 401(k) with 6% Match + Relocation Assistance
Position Summary
The Purchasing Agent and Storeroom Supervisor is responsible for managing the full procure-to-pay process, placing and tracking purchase orders in SAP, and ensuring the plant receives the right products and services at the best value. This role is highly customer-focused, supporting production and maintenance operations while maintaining accurate inventory control and vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
- Review and verify purchase requisitions; clarify specifications and recommend alternatives when appropriate.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, confirm pricing and availability, and obtain competitive quotes when needed.
- Track open purchase orders, expedite deliveries, and resolve shipping discrepancies.
- Analyze purchasing data and trends to support planning, cost control, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and pursue cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
Inventory & Storeroom Management
- Oversee storeroom operations and supervise storekeeping staff.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, monitor stock levels, and conduct cycle counts.
- Ensure timely ordering of critical maintenance and operational supplies.
- Manage vendor documentation and inventory transaction accuracy.
- Partner with Safety and PPE suppliers to manage vending programs and prevent stockouts.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Support plant personnel and Accounts Payable in verifying receipts and resolving discrepancies.
- Work closely with maintenance to ensure proper inventory levels and material availability.
- Lead by example in safety, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business Management emphasis helpful).
- Purchasing and/or inventory experience preferred.
- Strong SAP and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to improve safety, productivity, and quality.
- Solid leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Purchasing Director with dotted-line accountability to the Maintenance Manager.
