Purchasing Agent - Electrical Contractor

We have expertise in data center infrastructure, healthcare, substation, financial infrastructure, network design, structured cabling, and electrical system design-build, installation, and maintenance.

Forest Electric NJ is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support the Company in meeting its objectives and goals with the acquisition and procuring of various electrical goods, materials, devices, equipment and other items for commercial construction projects at various locations within New Jersey. 

Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

• Handle the day to day purchases as well as large electrical package buy-outs.
• Seek reliable vendors or suppliers to provide quality goods and materials at reasonable prices.
• Coordinate between vendors and staff with respect to availabilities, ship dates, cancellation dates.
• Review technical specifications for raw materials, commodities, components or equipment.
• Negotiate prices and purchases.
• Generate accurate purchase orders.
• Interact effectively with all members of the organization and outside associates.
• Coordinate with accounting staff on payment of invoices, resolving discrepancies and billing follow-up.
• Actively drive standard processes to achieve desired supplier performance (quality, delivery, productivity, lead time, etc.)
• Ability to identify cost saving initiatives.
• Management of vehicle fleet repairs.
• Adhere to Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
• A commitment to quality assurance in all aspects of work.
• Regular, predictable and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of the position.

• Five (5) + years of purchasing experience in the construction industry.
• Electrical construction procurement experience a plus
• Familiarity with a wide variety of field construction concepts, practices and procedures.
• Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms.
• Experience with Viewpoint by vista construction ERP software highly preferred.
• Familiarity with local market is highly desirable.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet searches.

Compensation Range:  $75,000 - $100,000
