Psychiatric Associate - Adult Inpatient Mental Health

Fairview Health Services is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit!

Station 30 has a mix of many challenging patients including those who are anxious/depressed and are at risk for self-harm or suicide as well those who have thought disorders and struggle with managing their lives in the community. Some patients have co-occurring medical issues that broaden the psychiatric associate experience. 

This role is approved for 48 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, 11:00PM - 7:30AM, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. The Psychiatric Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
• Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
• Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
• Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:
• Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
• Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
• Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
• Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:
• Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
• Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
• Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts
• First aid certification required through the American Heart Association if assigned to work on a chemical dependency unit.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Field
• Experience working with behavioral patients

$25.24- $34.44 Hourly

MHealth Fairview Health Services is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit! Unit 30 has 17 beds. The unit team consists of one attending Psychiatrist; two social workers; an occupational therapist; RN's, psych associates, and health unit coordinator. Station 30 has a mix of many challenging patients who struggle managing their lives in the community. Staff members work together as a team to provide care for these patients in a safe, therapeutic, environment.

This role is approved for XX hours, every two weeks on the XX shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible.
