Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Proposal Strategist to lead and manage end-to-end proposal development efforts in support of business development initiatives. This role is responsible for developing proposal strategies, win themes, and execution plans for competitive Requests for Proposal (RFPs), partnering closely with business development and project management leadership.
The Proposal Strategist will play a key role in shaping compelling value propositions that strengthen the organization’s competitive position in the infrastructure and engineering market.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Strategy & Development
- Develop comprehensive proposal plans, schedules, and win strategies for assigned pursuits
- Lead RFP release activities, including kickoff, execution, and end-game (“checkmate”) phases
- Draft storyboards, assign proposal team roles, and manage proposal workflows
- Conduct go/no-go reviews and facilitate official proposal kickoff meetings
Reviews, Graphics & Submittals
- Perform Pink Team reviews and revise content based on feedback
- Coordinate development of proposal graphics and visual materials
- Manage final proposal production and submission activities
- Support post-submittal activities, including interviews and checkmate-phase deliverables
Metrics, Contracts & Closeout
- Develop and track proposal-related metrics including safety, budget, schedule, diversity goals, and community involvement
- Assist with development of negotiated contract outlines
- Support project closeout deliverables and documentation
Marketing & Industry Engagement
- Support submittals for industry awards (e.g., ACEC, ENR, and trade publications)
- Attend professional associations, conferences, and trade shows; assist with booth setup and networking
- Perform other duties as assigned while complying with company policies and standards
Required Skills & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field
- (Applicable years of experience may substitute for degree requirement)
- 4+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or sales within a professional services firm
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience working at an Architecture / Engineering (A/E) firm
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign
- Certified Proposal Management Professional (APMP) or equivalent
- Strong organizational and deadline-management skills
