Staff Property Accountant
Job Summary
A commercial real estate property management organization based in Dallas is seeking a full-time Staff Property Accountant to support the Accounting Manager and Senior Accountant. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed schedules, and supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for assigned commercial properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations for assigned properties
- Review general ledgers and prepare monthly journal entries
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Complete annual CAM reconciliations in collaboration with property and asset management teams
- Support CAM calculations during budgeting and reforecast processes
- Review and approve invoices in Yardi PayScan and other systems to ensure timely posting and payment
- Maintain schedules for prepaids, insurance, and property taxes
- Assist with annual audits and tax return preparation
- Support fixed asset accounting, including monthly depreciation
- Assist with special projects related to quarterly close, budgets, internal/external audits, and investor or lender reporting
- Provide general support to senior accounting staff as needed
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including:
- Invoice entry and payment processing (ACH, wires, check runs)
- Cash receipt processing and bank deposits
- Posting intercompany management fees and reimbursements
- Tenant account reconciliations
- New vendor setup and review
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of property accounting experience focused on commercial real estate (office, retail, and/or industrial)
- Experience with Yardi software strongly preferred

- Willingness and ability to learn industry-specific and web-based accounting systems
