The Senior Project-Program Director will lead the ERP Program Management Office (PMO) as the Lab executes a major transformation that will affect all facets of LANL's operations-spanning finance, HR, procurement/supply chain, manufacturing, and more. LANL is transitioning from an on-premises Oracle EBS environment to cloud-based SAP S4/HANA and SuccessFactors. Base scope includes human resources, finance, accounting, timekeeping, payroll, and purchase card. This position reports directly to the ERP Program Director and will provide strategic vision and operational oversight to ensure the successful execution of this high-impact program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the actions of the ERP PMO for the program lifecycle: planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.
- Maintain strict alignment with LANL's business and strategic objectives.
- Lead comprehensive personnel management: headcount planning, team development, and performance management.
- Supervise a growing team of Program and Project Managers.
- Lead Organizational Change Management (OCM): ensure stakeholder engagement, effective communication, and training.
- Oversee a multimillion-dollar budget, ensuring cost control, accurate forecasting, and adherence to financial constraints.
- Manage the performance of key subcontracted partners.
- Coordinate across highly cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Production).
- Provide timely and transparent program status updates for senior leadership.
- This role will be essential in driving forward LANL's mission of national security, operational excellence, and scientific innovation through ERP modernization.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Strategic Leadership: Experience in evaluating complex business environments, developing and presenting risk-informed tradeoffs and options for senior leaders.
- Technical Depth: Expertise in modern, cloud-based ERP platforms, their implementation challenges, and integration strategies.
- Project Management: Experience managing projects that are complex, high-consequence, and long-duration.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Ability to align priorities across departments and enforce program accountability.
- Contract Oversight: Experience managing contracts with vendors and integrators in multimillion-dollar environments.
- Financial Acumen: Skilled in budget forecasting, resource planning, and cost management for large-scale programs.
- OCM Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-wide change initiatives, including training and communication planning.
- Team Development: Track record of mentoring teams, managing performance, and fostering high-performance culture.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post-graduate coursework or degrees are preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of contracting, human resources, financial management, and compliance processes.
- Experience establishing or scaling a Program Management Office (PMO).
- Current PMP Certification.
- Active DOE "Q" Clearance or ability to obtain one.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
