Introduction
This role is part of a comprehensive cost recovery program related to recalls, led by the National Product Safety and Recall (NPSR) team. The initiative focuses on identifying, validating, and recovering recall-related costs across affected markets. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day execution of this program, leveraging clinical fluency, financial acumen, and EHR/data expertise to drive outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Applicants must be able to work directly for the company on W2.
- Clinical Background: RN, PA, RT, or other clinically trained professional OR significant hospital revenue cycle experience with deep clinical documentation fluency.
- EHR Expertise: Hands-on proficiency accessing and navigating Epic and KP HealthConnect (or equivalent integrated EHRs).
- Coding Knowledge: Advanced understanding of CPT/HCPCS, ICD 10 CM/PCS, modifiers, revenue codes, NDC/device identifiers, and payer billing rules.
- Data Skills: Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel; experience building Power BI or Tableau dashboards.
- Program/Project Management: 5–8 years leading complex, cross-functional healthcare projects.
- Compliance: Working knowledge of HIPAA, CMS guidelines, internal audit standards, and defensible documentation practices.
- Communication: Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Prior success in manufacturer cost recovery or payer/provider reimbursement disputes.
- Experience with device recall management and supply chain traceability.
- Familiarity with third-party recovery tools and contract terms related to vendor reimbursement.
- Experience across multiple regions and with third-party provider data constraints.
- Certification(s): CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, RN license, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review medical records to separate recall-related interventions from routine care.
- Access Epic and client HealthConnect to retrieve encounter details and analyze coding for recall-related procedures.
- Partner with internal teams to enhance analytics for recall identification and reimbursement calculations.
- Compile comprehensive reimbursement packages and coordinate negotiations with manufacturers.
- Document workflows and establish standardized templates for audit readiness.
- Monitor for new or pending revision procedures and maintain watchlists for emerging recalls.
- Define transparent methodologies to allocate recovered funds and publish monthly executive updates.
