Position Summary
A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and deliver projects that meet quality, schedule, and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall project execution, including planning, coordination, and delivery
- Develop and manage project schedules (CPM) to ensure timely completion
- Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, and financial performance
- Manage subcontractor scope definition, buyout, and contract administration
- Maintain strong communication with subcontractors to ensure performance and accountability
- Prepare and submit owner billings in a timely and accurate manner
- Manage change orders, including negotiation, documentation, and execution
- Coordinate with owners, architects, and public agencies as required
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Implement and manage quality control and assurance processes
- Support procurement and preconstruction efforts, including estimating and business development collaboration
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, including field staff and support personnel
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with a commercial general contractor
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project delivery, and field operations
- Experience managing diverse commercial project types (e.g., industrial, office, retail, healthcare, multifamily, hospitality, or public works)
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Timberline, or similar)
- Familiarity with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or equivalent
- Strong financial management and contract administration skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Willingness to work in both office and active construction site environments
Work Environment
- Combination of office-based and field-based responsibilities
- Regular interaction with active construction sites, including job trailers and typical site conditions
