Summary:
The Project Manager plans, budgets, documents and oversees all aspects of assigned project(s). Project Managers may work closely with management at all levels in the organization to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and budget.
Job Requirements:
- Employee must be able to successfully manage a project from start to completion.
- Responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing daily project management activities during procurement, design, construction, and close-out phase.
- Perform site inspections and document progress.
- Analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and other contract documents to determine the overall project scope and project requirements.
- Review bid requirements for projects ensuring all aspects of the project are documented and accounted for.
- Oversee the coordination and success of the assigned project and staff while providing a safe work environment.
- Negotiate and write subcontractors purchase orders.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute detailed project schedules.
- Identify, manage, and maintain relationships with subcontractors, ensuring bids are completed in a timely manner, thoroughly, and accurately.
- Develop and sustain working relationships with clients through direct communication.
- Identify and understand bidding documents.
- Identify and submit required project documentation and notify other departments.
- Monitor job progress, especially regarding scope of work, job cost (budget vs actual), and project document plans.
- Must have estimating knowledge and be familiar with estimating software.
- Have knowledge of National Electric Code.
- Able to effectively estimate and track change orders.
- Participate in interviews and interview preparation for negotiated bids.
- Provide alternative solutions as needed, taking into consideration cost, schedule, maintenance, and life cycle cost implications.
- Attend and represent MVE in all design and coordination meetings. On some projects may lead these meetings.
- Maintain an action log for outstanding items and assign responsibility for such action items.
- Maintains scope issues log and compile pricing (with assistance from Pre-Construction Manager as needed).
- Prepare or oversee preparation of the preconstruction schedule with buy-in from internal departments as it relates to them.
- Interact with owners and designers to maintain schedule.
- Keep internal departments informed of schedule changes as it relates to their activities.
- Assist project team in design decisions and development of solutions.
- Track and manage construction budget between formal estimating periods and keep team abreast of current budget and impact of design decisions.
- Assist in the development and training of staff as needed.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain a competitive advantage for MVE.
- Attend industry events and represent MVE in a professional capacity.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal MVE clients.
- Implement all applicable safety programs.
- Self-starter. Highly motivated to bring results and success to the estimates he/she leads.
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Detail oriented.

Physical Demands:
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and using hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and telephone, with specific vision abilities like close vision due to computer work.
- Ability to hear and respond to conversations, phone calls and other sounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in person, over the phone, and via video conferencing.
- Occasional lifting or carrying light items (e.g., office supplies, wellness materials) up to 10-15 pounds.
- Regularly required to talk, hear, read, write and communicate.
- Occasionally required to work around operating equipment, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods of time, walk, reach, stoop, crawl, twist, bend, and climb ladders.
- Office-based with frequent visits to constructions sites.
- Must be able to wear PPE and navigate construction environments safely.
