Project Manager – Federal Construction

Location: Omaha, NE / Federal Project Sites
Schedule: Full-time, primarily onsite
Industry: Federal Construction / Government Contracting

Overview

A rapidly growing federal construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex government-funded projects. This is a high-impact role for someone who understands that federal construction is fundamentally different from commercial work and can step in with minimal ramp-up.

The organization has recently secured multiple large federal awards and is scaling quickly, creating an immediate need for a strong, turnkey Project Manager who can own projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Manage federal construction projects through the full lifecycle, from award through closeout

Ensure strict compliance with federal contracting requirements, documentation, and reporting

Oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field coordination

Review estimates and manage cost controls throughout the project

Coordinate closely with superintendents, internal leadership, and external stakeholders

Anticipate risks and proactively resolve project issues

Maintain clear communication with government representatives and partners

Required Qualifications

Proven experience managing federal construction projects (non-negotiable)

Strong understanding of federal contracting processes, compliance, and reporting

Experience reviewing and working from estimates

Ability to operate independently in a fast-growing environment

Broad construction knowledge across multiple trades

Preferred Experience

Structural, carpentry, or concrete-focused project exposure

Experience working on military base or government facility projects

Ability to step into an active project already underway

Compensation

$120,000–$160,000 for candidates requiring some ramp-up

Up to $170,000 for a plug-and-play federal Project Manager

Compensation dependent on experience and level of autonomy
