Job Summary
Leidos is seeking a Project Manager who thrives in a dynamic environment, is eager for professional growth, and is interested in managing large information technology projects. This role involves working with various customer business areas at an Investor-Owned Utility client located in New Jersey.
The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and implementing complex large-scale projects to achieve organizational goals. This role ensures efficiency in key aspects of the project management process, including planning, budgeting, and risk assessment within the corporate apps area.
Location
This position is based in Newark, NJ. The successful candidate must reside within a commutable distance and be available to work in the office three days per week. Newark is a vibrant city known for its rich history, cultural diversity, and proximity to New York City.
Responsibilities
- Direct project team personnel, manage costs and schedules, ensure contract compliance, and act as the customer interface.
- Manage technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned tasks or functions.
- Provide leadership to engage multidiscipline work teams in responding to business needs for assigned projects.
- Lead project team members through the project lifecycle.
- Create project management plans, set expectations, execute governance reviews, and ensure project plans adhere to organizational procedures.
- Coordinate with cross-functional project stakeholders to develop project scope, objectives, goals, and deliverables.
- Ensure requirements are gathered, documented, reviewed, and approved per organizational/PMO standards.
- Work with the assigned scheduler to create a work breakdown structure defining all activities required for project deliverables.
- Manage project budget, maintain financial plans, track actuals versus plans, provide monthly forecasts, and report monthly accruals.
- Establish and provide written and verbal project communications, including weekly status updates, dashboards, and project updates.
- Actively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, milestone attainment, and overall quality of project activities and deliverables.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with 5–7 years of experience as a Project Manager. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Background in corporate apps such as SAP, HR, AI, etc.
- Project management experience handling project financials, schedules, scope, and testing with strong communication/presentation skills.
- Understanding and previous experience with Project Management and PMO processes and procedures.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships, partnerships, and external networks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively in a collaborative team environment while keeping the team informed.
- Demonstrated customer-facing skills.
- Established researching, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Established analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project or a similar project management tool.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other guidelines where appropriate.
