Impact Recruitment has partnered with a civil engineering firm in the San Diego, CA area.
Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports land development projects under the supervision of a Project
Manager. This role leads design tasks and resolves technical issues with limited guidance. The
Project Engineer is expected to demonstrate growing leadership skills, technical competency,
and a commitment to quality and collaboration aligned with our clients mission and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical
Prepare land development designs, including grading, utility, and subdivision plans.
Work in close conjunction with reporting Project Manager to solve complex construction
and design challenges.
Proactively coordinate across teams and agencies.
Develop and review engineering reports (e.g., hydrology, hydraulics, sewer studies).
Create construction documents, exhibits, and constraint maps using field data and
software tools.
Facilitate an effective design by assisting in coordination with other internal departments,
sub consultants and agencies regarding plan check comments and design requirements
relating to the project, as well as, understanding and communicating the ideas and
concepts necessary to take preliminary plans to final engineering plans.
Analyze project feasibility by calculating earthwork and improvement quantities.
Apply project knowledge to support team efficiency and project execution.
Team Leadership
Mentor junior staff, including interns and Design Engineers.
Follow and support company policies, procedures, and project standards.
Other
Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited institution.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
4-6 years of land development experience, preferably in Southern California.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to support and train junior staff.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
Manual dexterity to operate drafting and office equipment.
Visual acuity to read drawings and technical documents.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.
Occasional site visits, with required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to bend, stoop, and reach for files, drawings, and materials.
Regular speaking and hearing required for collaboration and communication.
