Project Engineer

Commercial Construction | Operations Department

Position Overview

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Operations Department. This role serves as a critical link between architects, owners, subcontractors, and internal project teams. The Project Engineer supports the project team throughout the construction process by managing documentation, facilitating communication, and assisting with coordination to help keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager and field supervisory personnel to support project schedules, budgets, and overall execution

  • Develop a thorough understanding of contract documents and subcontractor scopes of work to effectively support both field and office teams

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract drawing logs within project management software

  • Manage and maintain on-site project files and documentation

  • Track and file all project-related correspondence for reference and compliance

  • Support project closeout efforts, including archiving files, plans, and documentation for future reference

  • Assist with acquiring, logging, tracking, and distributing submittals from suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with project specifications

  • Manage and organize project information and documentation, including but not limited to:

    • Pre-construction meeting attendance

    • Requests for Information (RFIs)

    • Potential Change Order Requests (PCORs)

    • Meeting minutes

    • Permits and inspections

    • Field coordination and scheduling assistance

    • Concrete pour schedules and placement activities

    • Closeout documentation (warranties, guarantees, operation and maintenance manuals, etc.)

    • Compilation and distribution of as-built drawings to the Owner

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success

Qualifications

  • Experience with Procore, Timberline, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and scheduling software preferred

    • Experience with comparable construction management platforms may be considered

  • Willingness to learn company procedures and contribute as a collaborative team member

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist during critical project phases
