PROJECT ENGINEER JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager and Superintendent in managing construction projects. Responsibilities include handling contracts, preparing change orders, maintaining project schedules, coordinating with vendors and suppliers, tracking quantities, analyzing production, assisting with billing and invoicing, allocating resources, and contributing to estimating and procurement activities.

PROJECT ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with project takeoffs and maintain accurate documentation
  • Prepare and support project proposals
  • Solicit and review supplier and subcontractor quotes
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Utilize strong organizational skills to manage multiple project tasks efficiently
  • Communicate effectively to ensure successful coordination and completion of responsibilities

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Willingness to travel or relocate based on project needs

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 0–3 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role
  • Familiarity with heavy civil or geotechnical construction such as mass concrete, post-tensioning, dams, drilling, soil nailing, caissons, tiebacks, shotcrete, or slurry walls is a plus

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
