Project Cost Controller I

Position Overview

A Project Cost Controller I is responsible for tracking and controlling costs associated with one or more projects. This role primarily supports the primary project cost controller but may operate independently with management oversight when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and track project invoices
• Review and track contractor Time & Materials (T&M) tickets
• Administer and maintain project change control documentation
• Perform data entry for miscellaneous cost and reporting activities
• Provide general support for all project cost control functions as required

Education & Experience

• Some level of higher education and/or relevant work experience in project cost control or monitoring
• Preferred degrees include construction management, project management, or engineering
• Degrees in business, accounting, or finance are also acceptable
• Relevant work experience includes roles involving cost tracking, budgeting, or project controls with demonstrated application of project management concepts
• Certifications from PMI or AACE are a strong differentiator

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, with above-average Excel skills
• Basic understanding of construction projects, contracting practices, and accounting principles
• Ability to follow direction, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
