- Core Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST

Role Overview
The Project Architect will play a critical role in a high-visibility CIS modernization program, transitioning a 25-year legacy billing system to SAP S/4 HANA for Utilities (IS-U) and Salesforce Energy & Utilities Cloud. This multi-year initiative requires a seasoned architect with deep experience across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments, strong governance skills, and the ability to design scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions aligned with SAP Clean Core principles.
This role partners closely with architecture, functional, and technical teams to blueprint, govern, and validate end-to-end solutions across SAP, Salesforce, AWS, and supporting enterprise platforms.
Project Context
- Multi-year (4–5 year), multi-million-dollar CIS modernization initiative
- Migration from legacy CIS to SAP S/4 HANA Utilities and Salesforce Energy & Utilities Cloud
- Initial engagement as a contractor with potential for conversion
- Member of the Architecture team supporting CIS blueprinting, governance, and implementation validation
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain end-to-end solution architecture across SAP S/4, Salesforce, and integrated enterprise systems
- Lead architecture blueprinting, solution design, and implementation validation
- Enforce Clean Core principles and minimize customizations
- Identify and align new technology capabilities with architecture tenets and standards
- Govern architecture standards and best practices
- Collaborate with functional, technical, and vendor teams
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for security, scalability, resiliency, performance, and observability
- Conduct architecture reviews and present to architecture review boards
- Validate delivered solutions against approved designs
Required Qualifications (Must-Have Skills)
- 10+ years of enterprise or solution architecture experience
- 2+ years of SAP S/4 HANA Utilities (IS-U) experience
- 2+ years working with SAP BTP and Integration Suite
- 4+ years of AWS experience
- Proven expertise designing solutions across complex hybrid cloud and on-premise ecosystems
- Strong architectural governance, solutioning, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- SAP Certified Solution Architect or SAP Technology Professional certification
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, TOGAF, or LeanIX
- Utility industry experience
Technical Skills
- Integration and data architecture (SAP BTP, AWS; IBM ACE preferred)
- Cloud and hybrid architecture solutioning (AWS preferred)
- End-to-end solution architecture across large, complex enterprise landscapes
- Architecture option analysis with clear recommendations
- Deep understanding of security, scalability, resiliency, observability, and performance design
Non-Technical Skills
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to executives and stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- Solid business acumen to align architecture decisions with strategic goals
- Independent, accountable, and highly collaborative working style
- Comfortable working across multiple teams and vendors
