Salary: $67,000 - $70,000
Location: Milwaukie, OR - Hybrid flexible role after 90 days

Our client is a professional services firm in the Portland area. They are seeking a Project Accountant to manage the financial lifecycle of their engagements. This role is central to the team, acting as the primary liaison between project managers, clients, and subconsultants. It offers a professional environment where accuracy and efficiency are highly valued.

Job Duties

• Prepare, verify, and process invoices for all sales and services rendered.
• Set up and maintain project task budgets, modifications, and resource allocations within the accounting system.
• Manage client accounts and profiles, including accessing portals for invoice imports and compliance reporting.
• Resolve discrepancies and provide prompt responses to client inquiries and requests.
• Collect on accounts by sending invoice reminders, client statements, and maintaining the accounts receivable aging report.
• Summarize receivables by reviewing posted receipts and verifying totals.
• Review, route for approval, and process subconsultant billings and related project expenses.
• Maintain subconsultant profiles, master service agreements, task orders, and insurance certificates.
• Manage accounts payable aging for subconsultant payments and prepare pay-when-paid reporting for weekly check runs.
• Provide assistance with company audits and maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting transactions.
• Ensure effective document preparation and records management in accordance with retention policies.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes as directed by leadership.
• Execute general accounting tasks and special projects as needed to support the finance department.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Deltek Ajera accounting software is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external contacts.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project-related deadlines.
• Familiarity with professional services billing and subconsultant coordination.
