Key Responsibilities
Project Accounting:
- Manage full lifecycle project accounting, including budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and revenue recognition.
- Track client‑approved fees and maintain accurate financial records for active projects.
- Set up new projects in the accounting system using percentage‑completion or time‑and‑expense methods.
- Partner with project managers to ensure alignment between project activity and financial reporting.
- Support preparation of annual budgets and net fee projections.
Audit, Compliance & Controls:
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and required regulations.
- Serve as a liaison during external audits and coordinate with outside accountants as needed.
- Support preparation of internal financial statements and audit‑ready documentation.
- Perform bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations.
- Oversee aspects of the financial closing process.
Financial Operations:
- Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries and oversight of accounts payable and receivable.
- Lead daily cash management responsibilities.
- Generate reports, conduct financial analysis, and support strategic decision‑making.
- Assist with various accounting or administrative tasks assigned by the Controller.
- Communicate with clients, consultants, and internal teams regarding financial matters.
Qualifications
- Experience in project‑based accounting within architecture, engineering, or construction (4–6 years).
- Ability to conduct financial analysis, prepare internal reports, and support monthly and annual financial cycles.
- Strong reconciliation skills with experience in closing processes and general ledger management.
