We are working with a long-standing union subcontractor specializing in architectural sheet metal seeking a Construction Project Accountant to join their team. This position focuses on key technical accounting duties: month-end activities, reconciliations, job cost analysis, and WIP reporting to ensure accurate financial records and reliable project performance tracking.

Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and complete the monthly close cycle, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Create, update, and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) reports and job cost summaries.
- Prepare and interpret financial statements, offering insight through variance analysis.
- Perform detailed general ledger reviews to confirm accuracy and compliance.
- Manage construction-specific billing (AIA, Textura, Timberline).
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, forecasts, and job profitability.
- Assist with accounts payable/receivable functions, including PO and quote tracking.
- Support payroll-related accounting and compliance requirements.
- Recommend and implement improvements to streamline accounting processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline (preferred).
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience, particularly with debits/credits, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Construction accounting and job-costing background is required.
- Skilled in Sage 300/Timberline; familiarity with Procore is an advantage.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
