About the Opportunity
A leading electrical construction and telecommunications contractor in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support high-profile commercial, healthcare, financial infrastructure, and data center projects across NJ and NYC.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with project managers and executive leadership to drive financial accuracy and performance.
What You"ll Do
-Prepare and administer monthly requisitions and payment applications
-Generate invoices and maintain change order logs
-Perform job cost analysis and profit/loss reporting
-Manage collections and communicate with clients regarding billing
-Produce cash management and forecasting reports
-Maintain organized billing documentation and compliance records
-Prepare Certified Payroll, insurance documentation, lien waivers, and M/WBE reports
-Partner with Project Management on financial performance and close-outs
-Support senior accounting leadership with reporting and analysis
-Initial training will take place in the NYC office. Ongoing requirement to report to the NYC office at least one day per month.
Requirements
-Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience
-Experience with project billing, requisitions, and job cost reporting
-Accounts Payable experience
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, formatting, reporting)
-Strong written communication skills
-Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
-Reliable on-site attendance
Preferences
-Experience with Viewpoint by Vista construction ERP software
-Experience supporting large commercial or infrastructure projects
-Familiarity with Certified Payroll and M/WBE reporting
