University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) at Sacramento State is seeking a Program Specialist for Child Care Access Means Parents In School (CCAMPIS). CCAMPIS is a unique educational program at Sacramento State that assists students who are eligible to receive a Pell grant with services related to childcare. The program is primarily funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Students receive funds to pay for on and off campus childcare and support services to increase retention and graduation of student parents at Sacramento State. CCAMPIS serves 30-50 students per year.


RATE OF PAY:  $22.87 - $34.30 per hour

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT 


This is a full-time, temporary up to September 30, 2026 (may be extended), non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay), benefited position with a defined contribution retirement plan through TIAA. (The position is not covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System.) Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding.


The selected candidate must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the United States. University Enterprises, Inc. is not a sponsoring agency (i.e. H-1B Visa).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  1. Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Behavioral or Social Sciences, Education or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

  2. Demonstrated experience in advising, education, or a related student services field and working with students in academic and/or career advisement.

  3. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the unique traits found in student parents.

  5. Demonstrated skill in advising and guiding students individually and in groups.

  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers, students, parents, faculty, and staff.

  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  8. Demonstrated familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet computer applications, such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite.

  9. Must be legally eligible to drive in California, complete and pass an online training course, maintain a good driving record, and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards, driving record will be monitored with the California Department of Motor Vehicles to ensure compliance.

  10. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

WORKING CONDITIONS


Work is performed in an office environment, continuous contact with staff, students, campus community, the public, and other agencies.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


This position supports students that are eligible to receive a Pell grant with services related to childcare. Sac State’s childcare voucher program—which can be used at a variety of locations, including the ASI Children’s Center on campus—is called the Hornet Family Study Care Grant. The Program Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the CCAMPIS grant activities and will work to recruit and assist students to receive the childcare funds. Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, the person in this position will have a legal duty to report child abuse and neglect and is considered by law to be a “mandated reporter.” This position reports directly to and receives general supervision from the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) Program Director/Coordinator and CCAMPIS Principal Investigator. The position oversees and monitors the work of 1-2 student assistants.


The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:



  1. Provides individual advising to students regarding university policies, registration, withdrawal, graduation, financial aid, general education, advising and other issues typical of university life.

  2. Determines student eligibility based on CCAMPIS policies and procedures. Prepares payment for child care services for eligible students.

  3. Provides new students with an orientation to CCAMPIS services. Explains policies regarding financial aid, health services and child care services required to receive child care support. Connects students with on- and off-campus community resources.

  4. In conjunction with the WRC and Parents and Families Program (PFP), co-coordinates and implements special activities for students and their families. This includes, but is not limited to: CCAMPIS Orientation, the PFP, career exploration, and field trips, career exploration workshops, and other activities in alignment with CCAMPIS goals and objectives.

  5. Collects and compiles information and maintains database regarding child care services,  active enrollment, invoicing, and student advising documentation.

  6. Collects and compiles information and statistics on numbers of students advised and their participation in retention activities; prepares monthly and yearend reports on CCAMPIS retention efforts. Closes out student files and develops student referral lists for other campus offices. Assists Principal Investigator with preparing data for the Annual Performance Report submitted yearly to the Department of Education.

  7. Coordinates and implements special educational, cultural, and enrichment activities for the students and their parents.

  8. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with campus supportive services offices, academic departments, community agencies, secondary school personnel, and migrant education personnel.

  9. Performs presentations to students, school personnel, community organizations, parent advisory committees, and community agencies regarding CCAMPIS and higher education opportunities. Some travel and evening/weekend presentations may be required.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/Coordinator and Principal Investigator to ensure the success of the program and its participants.


Note:  This position vacancy is with University Enterprises Inc., an auxiliary organization of California State University, Sacramento.  This is not a University position; the incumbent will be an employee of University Enterprises.
