JOB TITLE: Production Scheduler

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs technical production scheduling work utilizing Enterprise Resources Planning software. Work is performed under direction with considerable latitude. Position relies on advanced level experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

Job Duties and Tasks
- Coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts and assemblies within or between departments as well as finished goods shipments in accordance with production and shipping schedule or department priorities.
- Reviews MRP outputs weekly to ensure all required actions are taken- planned orders, expedites, de-expedite, cancels, etc.
- Monitors backorders of all assigned parts while communicating backorder information to internal departments.
- Maintains and reviews Forecasts and Actual sales for assigned products; monitors inventory levels of current stock.
- Plans production based on sales forecast current inventory levels and outstanding purchase orders and adjusts for variations that occur.
- Keeps abreast of changes affecting both supply and demand for products and materials.
- Monitors VMI stock held in house and request process traveler when inventory levels fall below established levels.
- Reviews production schedule and verifies material required is available and approved by Quality; notifies Purchaser if material is missing or low.
- Able to evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, availability, service support, reliability and selection.
- Discusses defective goods with inspection or quality control personnel, suppliers, and others to determine the origin and take corrective action.
- Attends new product introduction meetings.
- Coordinate new product launch activities as assigned by management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:
- General knowledge and understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR820 as it pertains to the job.
- Working knowledge of Project Management.
- Direct MRP experience required.
- Ability to analyze costs.
- Good organizational and problem solving skills.
- Proficient English communication skills- reading, writing, and speaking - as it relates to the job; Spanish a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, administration, vendors, customers and subcontractors.
- Skilled in basic math including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometric construction, practical algebra and metrics.
- Skilled in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Skilled in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently – achieving customer and quality objectives.
- Skilled in working independently, following through with assignments with minimal direction.
- Reasoning skills including but not limited to comparing, classifying, analyzing, and coordinating- minimizing duplication of effort.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; supplemented by three or more years’ scheduling in a medical device company or related industry preferred; or 7+ years experience in purchasing and/or material management with a minimum of 3 years of scheduling experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced knowledge of Visual ERP
- Working knowledge of the principles and methods of effective project management
- Direct MRP experience
- General knowledge and understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR820 as it pertains to the job
- Skilled in the use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, SolidWorks software, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Ability to analyze costs
- Skilled in basic math including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometric construction, practical algebra and metrics
- Skilled in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Skilled in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently to achieve customer and quality objectives
- Skilled in working independently and following through with assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
