Job Details

Position Summary

The Production and Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production and operational functions within an agricultural food production environment. This role ensures efficient workflow, quality standards, compliance with safety regulations, and effective coordination among teams to achieve production goals, optimize processes, and support organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Oversight

Plan, coordinate, and manage daily production activities to meet production targets and quality standards.

Develop and implement production schedules based on demand forecasts and inventory requirements.

Monitor production metrics, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements.

Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and best practices in production processes.

Operations Management

Lead and supervise production staff, providing direction, training, performance feedback, and coaching.

Oversee operational workflows including material handling, packaging, labeling, storage, and logistics.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., procurement, quality assurance, maintenance) to support operational goals.

Manage inventory control processes to ensure materials and finished goods are accurately tracked and available.

Quality and Compliance

Enforce quality control standards throughout the production cycle to maintain product consistency and integrity.

Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations, environmental standards, and workplace safety protocols.

Coordinate internal audits and corrective actions for any nonconformance issues.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, cost savings, and improved productivity.

Lead or support implementation of process improvements, including technology and equipment upgrades.

Track operational KPIs and report findings with actionable recommendations to leadership.

Budgeting and Reporting

Assist in developing and managing operational budgets.

Monitor operational expenditures and ensure cost-effective practices.

Prepare and present production and performance reports to senior management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in operations management, agriculture, industrial engineering, business administration, or related field preferred.

Proven experience in production, operations management, or manufacturing leadership, ideally in a food-related or agricultural environment.

Strong understanding of production workflows, quality systems, safety standards, and compliance requirements.

Excellent leadership, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, coach teams, and drive performance improvements.

Proficiency in production planning software and basic data analysis.
