JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY:
American Thermal Instruments (ATI), a leader in the thermal monitoring, is looking for a Production Lab Technician to perform a variety of operational functions that constitutes the production and testing of chemical formulations and the construction and testing of label prototypes. This person should enjoy working in a smaller, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs compounding of reversible and irreversible chemical formulations in support of production.
- Ability to effectively evaluate chemical formulations using established test methods. Demonstrates ability to complete assignments accurately and on time.
- Must operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Refers to work order, quality forms, and other QMS documents that are appropriate for each job, function, or assignment before commencing work.
- Be an active team member on making improvements to the assigned KPI's; Safety, Quality,
- Production, On-Time Delivery, Cost, and Employee Development.
- Maintains a clean work area and follows good housekeeping practices.
- Adheres to the Quality Policy, including all items assigned to this position in accordance with ISO, FDA & Company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ability to be flexible and perform a variety of tasks.
- Uses laboratory equipment and materials to accomplish any given job assignment. Works effectively, courteously, and respectfully with co-workers and other personnel. Communicates effectively with production and quality control.
- Perform assignments in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with the work rules and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Assists production and quality in investigations of process related quality issues. Organizes work and storage areas for efficient workflow.
- Reads work orders, manufacturing forms, and production schedule to determine types and amounts of batches required by production.
- Completes and maintains accurate records in support of the quality system. These records include batch sheets, test result forms, and manufacturing forms. Understands the function and purpose of these records.
- Must handle basic mathematical calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
- Manually lifts raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
- High School Diploma or GED required, with 1 or more years experience and/or training in a laboratory environment. An associate degree in a technical field is not required but a plus.
- Must be knowledgeable of weights, volumes and using the metric system. Basic wet chemistry experience; must have superior hands-on skills.
- The ability to read, analyze and interpret documents relating to the job, function or assignment and perform basic mathematical equations is required.
- Familiarity with ISO-9001 and FDA regulations is not required but is a plus.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety best practices, including SDS cataloging, proper PPE, material storage, material disposal, inventory, and maintenance of related equipment.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, basic computer skills, keen attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently with some guidance.
- Organizational skills: ability to prioritize job duties, time management, decision making skills and remain proactive with a fluctuating workload.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for a laboratory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be handling chemicals and must follow safety guidelines and wear proper personal protective equipment, The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or use motor skills for extended periods, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and identify colors (red, green, blue). Some mandatory overtime may be required.
