Product Engineer NVH

Position: NVH Product Engineer

Location: Allen Park, MI (Hybrid, 4 days on-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

Pay: $40-$42.30 per hour

Description: We’re seeking a highly skilled NVH Technical Specialist to join a leading automotive performance engineering organization developing next-generation high-output vehicles. This role will be responsible for the full lifecycle of NVH attribute development — from target setting and CAE modeling to physical testing, tuning, and validation. This position is hands-on, data-driven, and innovation-focused — ideal for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in analysis, testing, and technical development rather than team management.

Responsibilities:

• Drive technical problem-solving and refinement, collaborating closely with design, CAE, and development engineers to optimize noise and vibration characteristics that enhance both performance and customer experience
• Lead NVH Attribute Development including Powertrain, Axle & Driveline, and Road NVH
• Define and cascade vehicle and system-level NVH targets aligned to brand character and customer expectations
• Identify design content early in the development process to achieve attribute targets efficiently
• Support CAE model construction, correlation, and analysis for UN/UP milestone deliverables
• Lead physical vehicle testing and tuning to validate NVH performance and refine sound character
• Provide Engineering Sign-Off support with objective NVH assessments and data-based recommendations
• Drive innovation in both product and process, advancing NVH development methods and tools
• Mentor and guide NVH section engineers across product programs and attribute domains
• Partner cross-functionally with Powertrain, Chassis, Body, and Vehicle Engineering teams to ensure a fully integrated NVH solution

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or related field 
• 5+ years of NVH attribute development experience at vehicle and system levels
• Proven leadership in vehicle sound quality, vibration isolation, and noise control development
• Expert in LMS Test.Lab and Artemis Suite for data acquisition, analysis, and reporting
• Advanced user of Mueller-BBM Mklang (ESE and ANC tuning) and EXTUN (exhaust valve calibration)
• Deep understanding of powertrain, driveline, and body/chassis NVH cascades, including CAE and test correlation
• Thorough knowledge of legal noise requirements and test procedures for global markets
• Strong technical background in: Air Induction Systems (AIS) and resonator design, Exhaust system tuning and backpressure analysis, Axle whine and driveline imbalance countermeasures, Secondary ride, road noise, and cabin isolation optimization 
• Excellent planning, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills
