Product Engineer

Role Overview

Applies engineering principles to design, develop, and launch automotive products that meet customer specifications and performance requirements. Supports both new product development and existing production through continuous improvement and value engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead product design and development from concept through validation and launch
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DfMA)
  • Serve as subject matter expert on customer specifications and performance requirements
  • Drive problem-solving using tools such as DOE, DFSS, and 8D methodologies
  • Manage engineering changes (CR/CN) and track to timely resolution
  • Support prototype, pre-production, and production builds
  • Lead Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives
  • Coordinate development of prototypes, materials, and testing activities
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Product Delivery Process (PDP) Responsibilities

  • DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Product Specification & Verification
  • Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM)
  • Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
  • VA/VE Execution

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

Experience

  • Mid-level: 4–9 years
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Technical Skills

  • Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Experience with product development processes (Agile/Waterfall)
  • Ability to develop DFMEA, DVP&R, and engineering documentation

Preferred Certifications

  • GD&T (ASME)
  • Six Sigma
  • VA/VE Certification
  • SAE Engineering Tools Certification
  • CAD knowledge
