Paint Process Engineer

Location: Greer, SC

Competency Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s with experience or Master’s degree
  • Background in automotive paint, chemistry, or process engineering

Experience

  • 5+ years in automotive paint or related field
  • Experience supporting project development

Technical Competencies

  • Paint product/process validation
  • Jigs/masking development
  • OEM quality and appearance requirements
  • Paint productivity and consumption optimization

Missions

  • Lead paint development to meet OEM specs, quality, and cost (consumption, scrap, parts/mast).
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams (plant, lab, suppliers, customers).
  • Ensure paint process stability and capability.
  • Manage development and validation of painting tools (jigs, masking).
  • Deliver OPTIMAP, MCI, PPE, Paint’In and PPCM requirements.

Activities

  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Apply Design‑to‑Paint methodology and development guides (Opticolor, Paint’In).
  • Define paint zoning and manage supplier technical relations.
  • Support paint validation, sample builds, and run@rate.
  • Oversee jigs from CAD to final approval.
  • Validate paint ranges, processes, and customer specs.
  • Support continuous improvement and compare results to quotation.
  • Lead or support paint productivity projects and standardize validated solutions.
