Job Description
Facility Maintenance (FM) is seeking a highly motivated and driven Safety Engineer to join the team. This Safety Engineer will report directly to the FM Subdivision Manager. The FM organization is responsible for the compliant execution of all nuclear and non-nuclear maintenance activities at the Knolls Laboratory. The FM Safety Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and expertise over safety and Industrial Hygiene (IH) controls implemented by the FM organization.
The FM Safety Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Development and execution of the FM Continuous Training Program
- Ownership of the FM surveillance plan
- Review of Engineered Technical Work Documents prior to FM execution
- Performance of various IH/Safety monitoring in support of FM maintenance activities
- Leadership and mentorship during the scoping and development of FM maintenance activities
- In-field mentoring and coaching of FM personnel during the execution of maintenance activities
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience performing various IH/Safety monitoring
- Previous experience developing and conducting IH/Safety training
- Previous experience as an Asbestos Building Inspector (ABI)
- Previous experience in auditing and surveillance programs
- Experienced and knowledgeable of site facilities and operations
- Previous experience in an IH/Safety compliance organization

Pay Range
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
