My client is a rapidly growing generic pharma company (U.S. sales & marketing affiliate of a global manufacturer) and is hiring a Pricing & Contracts Manager to own pricing strategy and contract execution across a formulations portfolio.
Job Description: Pricing and Contracts Manager
Summary:
The Pricing and Contracts Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of pricing strategies and contract management processes for pharmaceutical products. This role requires a strong understanding of the US pharmaceutical market, including competitive pressures and customer landscape. The Pricing and Contracts Manager will collaborate closely with sales, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate and compliant pricing, optimize contract terms, and support business objectives. This role is within a smaller, entrepreneurial company, requiring a hands-on approach and the ability to manage all aspects of pricing and contracting with minimal support. A complete understanding of the generic pharmaceutical sales lifecycle is imperative, including RFP processes, contract negotiations, order-to-cash, and chargeback/rebate management.
Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and optimize pricing strategies and models, leveraging market data and financial analysis, while considering market conditions, competitive landscape, and profitability goals.

Manage the contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering customer agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Ensure timely and accurate administration of pricing information and contracts to enable accurate and timely processing of chargebacks, rebates, and government pricing calculations, order processing and accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficiency.

Collaborate with sales teams to provide pricing and contract support, including responding to customer inquiries, developing proposals, and negotiating contract terms.

Collaborate with supply chain to align product availability, lead times, and supply constraints with pricing and contract decisions.

Analyze pricing data, contract performance, and market trends, and conduct in-depth financial analyses of contracts, assessing profitability, identifying potential risks, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Monitor contract compliance, track utilization, and resolve pricing discrepancies and chargeback issues.
·
Support the development and implementation of pricing policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
·
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to pricing and contracting, and continuously monitor and analyze changes in government regulations, assessing their impact on pricing and contracting activities.

Provide guidance and training to sales and other internal teams on pricing and contract processes.
·
Identify and address system gaps and process inefficiencies related to pricing and contract management, and collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to implement solutions.

Develop and maintain contract templates, ensuring they reflect current legal and business requirements.
·
Proactively manage and resolve contract disputes, coordinating with cross-functional teams to mitigate potential risks and liabilities.
·
Effectively communicate pricing and contract information to internal stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
·
Independently resolve complex pricing and contract issues, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
·
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring alignment on pricing and contract matters.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
·
5+ years of experience in pricing and contract management in the pharmaceutical industry.
·
Strong understanding of the US pharmaceutical market,.
·
Proficiency in data analysis, pricing methodologies, and contract negotiation.
·
Experience with SAP and Vistex systems is highly preferred.
·
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
