Preschool Teacher's Aide

The person selected for this position must be at least 21 years of age and meet the educational, health, and safety requirements of the state licensing agency and NAEYC. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both adults and children and at all times act in a professional manner, upholding the philosophy of the school.
- Assist teacher with supervision of children and implementation of curriculum
- Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures
- Assist students who may need extra help with transition
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Inspect all play equipment for signs of wear and tear and notify the Director of any issues
- Set up play area outside or inside, depending on weather
- Break down play area at the end of each day
- Keep Resource Room picked up and clutter free
- Check supplies in Resource Room and inform the office of any supplies needed
- Assist in maintaining communal Bulletin Boards in hallways as assigned by the Director
- Assist with laminating materials for use in classrooms
- Wash snack dishes and return to classrooms
- Serve as a chaperone on any class field trips
- Maintain all necessary immunizations, TB tests, health requirements, and safety training as mandated in Staff Handbook
- Maintain all continuing education as mandated by the state of Virginia, currently at 16 hours per school year
- Report any suspected child abuse to Director and appropriate authorities as listed in the front of this handbook
- Participate in an annual evaluation of the program

Responsibilities
The person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting the lead teacher in the supervision and management of a class of ten to twelve children between the ages of 2 1⁄2 to 5 years.
