JOB SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

As a Prepress Operator, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing digital files to ensure they are properly formatted and ready for printing. This role plays a critical part in maintaining high-quality standards by verifying artwork, color profiles, and print specifications before production. The Prepress Operator works closely with production teams to ensure accurate file setup and efficient printing processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and process digital files for printing, ensuring proper file formats, resolution, color profiles, and fonts.
• Review customer-provided artwork and make necessary adjustments to meet printing requirements and quality standards.
• Ensure files meet press specifications including bleed, trim, and color settings.
• Perform preflight checks to identify and correct issues before files are sent to production.
• Manage color calibration and profiling to help maintain consistent color reproduction across printing devices and substrates.
• Work closely with production coordinators and press operators to address any prepress-related issues and prevent production delays or errors.
• Communicate with sales representatives and customer service teams when artwork corrections or clarifications are required.
• Maintain organized file management and version control for all production artwork.
• Follow company standards and procedures to ensure efficient workflow and quality control.
• Any other related task and/or responsibility assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory duties.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position might require long hours and occasional weekend work to support production schedules and project deadlines.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS PREFERRED

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, printing technology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in prepress operations within the printing industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of prepress workflows, file preparation, and print production requirements.
• Proficiency with graphic design and prepress software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Understanding of color management, file formats, and print production processes.
