As the ideal candidate you will have:
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in the printing or packaging industry in a Prepress Leadership role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of flexographic printing.
  • Experience leading teams.
  • Experience supporting multiple company sites highly preferred.

As the Sr. Prepress Manager, you will partner with your Prepress management team to ensure consistent day-to-day Prepress across responsible plants and for the consistent administration of all related policies and procedures. As their leader, you will provide coaching, direction and guidance to your management team. You will collaborate with your fellow Sr. Prepress Manager to manage the distribution of work between plants, and across shifts/time zones, to ensure that both service level agreements (SLA’s) and final product accuracy are achieved. Lastly, you will work closely with the Prepress Technical team to maintain color management standards, continuously improve workflows, and standardize processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction, training, and performance management to your team.
  • Develop relationships with both Prepress management and plant management to provide local support while aligning with larger company Prepress objectives.
  • Facilitate cross training to ensure responsible plants align on company Prepress processing to ensure best in class service across all responsible sites.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional leadership to improve efficiency and automation, meet production expectations.
  • Ensure Prepress KPI success around on-time delivery, proof accuracy, quality, and other important metrics, as set by the Director of Prepress and Digital Operations.
  • Work with Prepress, plant management, and quality teams to ensure revision control processes are adhered to and audited regularly for compliance with Fortis policy.
  • Investigate quality concerns, implement corrective actions and periodically audit for compliance within the department.
  • Support continuous process improvement by identifying needed workflow modifications and troubleshooting with help of support teams.
  • Lead and/or delegate Prepress responsibilities associated with color and file management, including fingerprinting, VDP, game technology, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements surrounding GMI, G7, ISO, and other certifications as required.
  • Assist with creation and updating of assigned departmental SOP’s and training guides. Oversee & facilitate training in partnership with Prepress leadership and support teams.
  • Partner with Prepress Technical Team and/or suppliers (Esko, HP, Domino, EFI, etc) to implement best practices and ensure technology pace is maintained with industry advancements.
  • Maintain a reasonable working knowledge of various ERP/MIS systems and all supporting systems needed to support Prepress functions.
  • Ensure implementation of Prepress software and hardware upgrades as needed with support from IT.
  • Regularly attend daily production meetings and New Product Meetings and be available for New Customer onboarding.
  • Support your managers and local plant management to ensure Prepress employee attendance and performance are aligned with Fortis policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties, including special projects, as assigned.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry / management experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the printing industry in a Prepress leadership position.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Desire and ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Able to work cross-functionally and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel and Outlook).
  • Proficient in Adobe Products: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, etc
  • Experience with Esko AE, Hybrid Cloudflow, HP DFE, or other related Prepress or digital printing software.
  • Able to think proactively and solve problems creatively.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task and prioritize competing requests to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Willing to work overtime or weekends as necessary, to support production.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to build consensus and lead change.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Salaried and hourly employees, both management and production.

Training Requirements:

  • Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.

Travel requirements:

  • This position will require regular travel, between 25% and 50% annually.
